Can you hear me now? Tournament in San Carlos, Sonora
The San Carlos Yacht Club is conducting it's annual tournament to raise funds for our private ambulance/medical center known as Rescate. It is a two
day tournament; 0700-1600 Saturday and 0700-1500 Sunday, MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME.
The tournament is being conducted on channel 63(A) on the USA set of frequencies. I am the voice of tournament control. Our location is on the 13th
floor of a beachfront high rise. so our line of sight is, well, outta sight!. Make that very much IN sight of a lot of locations in the Sea.
It would be interesting to see how far my voice is getting. I talked to a land station between Mulege and Loreto yesterday, during my radio test. From
a lower location, I have talked to boats off Los Barrilles.
If you can hear me, please dont respond on channel 63 (I cant respond on the air), but you might post your location in this thread. Include your
location, height of your antenna and your radiated power output.
Just for jollies.
BTW, in the first two hours, we have over 10 billfish released. No tuna, wahoo or dorado reported.

Can't hear you.... I had to put up a new (cheap) antenna and it just don't get it like the old one. Lots of boats out here yesterday and no dorado.

maybe next year you could do a live stream radio broadcast...
example...
http://www.clickonf5.org/10888/online-live-stream-event-free...
you can even use a 3g phone to broadcast on the docks
I imagine the interest would double your entries...plus
the families could see the boats coming in real time
marine radio to internet...what an amazing world

From my perspective, that would be TMI (too much information) for very little entertainment value.
Everything doesn't have to be on the bleepin world wide web............
We do post the results of the 10am and 1pm callins.

I take it you cant hear me, Bob? Very surprised, but you probably do have hills blocking you from my signal.

Just saw your post and tuned in to channel 63. I have you loud and clear in Loreto. My house is 50 yards from the beach at an elevation of 10" -
12'. I have an 18' antenna sprouting out of my palapa roof and a 25 watt vhf.

Hook.....Friends from San Carlos traveled home last week after a few weeks on this side down to the cape. South of San Carlos in the center of the
SOC they found a big paddy holding many dorado including the one in the photo below. You may recognize Manuel modeling it. They didn't weigh it but
the fork length was 62" Sounds like it would have done well in your torneo.
So far in many miles looking out of Loreto I've found no seaweed and no dorado.

Unofficially, 97 billfish released. Less than ten were marlin.
Possibly 3-4 weighable dorado landed. Boats headed to the weigh station, as I write.

We located a nice size patty just north of the "30-30" spot out of Loreto a few days ago.. holding lots of Dorado. Lots of "chickens", but managed a
few larger ones to fill our limits.. Season seems to running late this year, as water temps are still warming up over on this side..

I just hope the seiners leave enough bait in the water to allow those "chickens" to grow up.
