Watch out what you wish for
Caught a pretty nice tuna a few days ago, kicked my but. Glad to check the 200lb+ tuna off the bucket list, hopefully nothing more than 80lbs or so
from now on.

Thanks willy. The tuna hit a cedar plug about 30 miles straight out from my house in a school of porpoise. We had caught a few small to medium size
fish already, we had a double hook up of smaller fish so I kept going at trolling speed for a bit to see if we could pick up another (even though
there was only 2 of us on the boat). I was looking at the cedar plug trolled short behind the boat when what appeared to be a black and silver VW came
out of the water and smashed the lure, things got ugly for the next 2hrs and 20 minutes. The toughest part was dragging that fat ba$tard over the rail
after being beaten into submission by the fish. I used stand up gear for the fight, wished I had a fighting chair. The fish weighed 246lbs at the
dock, we bled it after catching it so I would imagine it was over 260lbs live weight. I don't need to catch any more of those, everything they say
about big tuna is true, "watch out what you wish for"....

I'm too old to be pulling on 200+ lb. tuna.

" A black and sliver VW"......Your a lucky dude beings your pretty big guy
yourself but on stand-up congrats, what kind of gear were you using?
Every time I see a pic of bigger tuna I think of the pic's of huge Bluefin of a 1000# or more that the boys used to catch many years ago
with their ancient gear spending many hours on a fish even on a chair it was a feat.
If a guy was going to fish big tuna on a regular basis I think conditioning would be a good idea don't you?
Rob
An a fast boat!

Anyone can catch fish in a boat but only \"El Pescador Grande\" can get them from the beach.
I hope when my time comes the old man will let me bring my rod and the water will be warm and clear.

Might I ask what size and color on the cedar plug?
I NEVER troll without AT LEAST ONE cedar plug in the pattern. Usually the stinger. They catch everything.
Lately, I have been finding that the small, 4 inch ones really seem to get the most bites.

It was a large size, maybe 8", natural color. They do catch a lot of fish, I always have the best luck with the natural color, I think the painted
ones are more for catching fishermen.

I always wear the same footwear in the boat that I wear in bed. Have to be a bit careful when the decks are bloody.
