Can you tell us anything more about this photo? When was it taken? This place is on my bucket list.

Here is a photo of maybe the same area, taken by Choral Pepper in the 1960s (arrived by helicopter). Near San Francisco de la Sierra, the head of San
Pablo Canyon...
To see more of Choral Pepper's photos from the days exploring Baja with Erle Stanley Gardner, see www.choralpepper.com (linked also at www.vivabaja.com )

Ken,
I like that photo very much. The long shadows add so much.
Thanks for posting.

It was taken in 2001 on the road between Mex. 1 and the cave paintings at Cueva Raton (San Francisco de la Sierra), about 30 miles north of San
Ignacio.

I second that. I have a photo I took from that same section of road on a clear sunny day in 2013 and its not nearly as dramatic. The drive up was a
lot easier then 2001 too. :-)

I think that it's possible that when you developed your photo the negative was reversed? I was just looking at mine and the horizon is flipped. Going
to see if I can post mine.

Wow, our photos seem to be at the same place and they are definitely reversed! I was shooting Velvia slides back then, and processing them myself.
Certainly between the processing, scanning, and copious quantities of wine I could have reversed the image. I will try to find the slide and see
which side has the emulsion I will let you know.

I was wondering the same thing when I compared the Coral Pepper photo that DK posted.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Red wine or white? I shot mine going up the road. Did you shoot yours going down?
I like your photo way more then mine. I may have to appropriate it.

Red. It's all yours. Reverse at will! Oops, forgot. I was going up the road (east)

I noticed the difference first when looking at David's image
first image seems to have the sunlight from the North
the iPhone image has the sunlight the way we know it - from the south
here is the correction:
