A win is a win! Dorado in this area not wide open yet, not the winners fault!. Craig is an excellent fisherman by the way. Was the 34#er caught in the Mulege tourney pathetic also?

Well, we already talked about that one...But yes, nothing special..And certainly no fault of the fisherperson...Fishing just keeps sliding downhill, I lived in Mulege for over 30 years And watched It decline...sad

Yellowfin tuna bite has been pretty good over here, for a few weeks. Wednesday, we got 11 at only 7.5 miles from port. Nothing large, 7-15#, but delicious!

Dorado STILL spotty. No real size. The fishery is in real trouble. Last year, Mexican "scientists" blamed El Nino. Wonder what they are blaming this year? Of course, they never blame the real source; illegal overfishing by commercial interests.

I'm surprised they havent been wrapped up, yet. They were biting Wednesday in an area that was about a 1/4 mile square. Not a small school.

Well, don't tell the people who entered the 20th Annual Bulls Only Punta Chivato Tournament that the fish was small. Craig Cove's wife caught it and you would have thought she brought in a 100 pounder. It was a wonderful weekend and a fantastic tournament. it also raised more money for the supported charities than any tournament in their history. The Baja Beat played Sunday night at the final awards dinner and we were asked to play at the Grand Finale Tournament which is August 13 and 14th at Loreto. Expected draw will be over 2,000 people at the Sunday Dinner. Also a good word goes out to FONMAR which helped put on the tournament. They are a Federal Trust that is involved with selling licenses in Baja Sur, Education and information about keeping the fishery viable and healthy, Checking for infractions of the laws, and supporting various programs for sustainability. http://www.bajasursportfishing.com

Sure wasn't disparaging the Fisher person! Just pointing out that the fishery aint producing as in the past....AND I think it was very gracious of you NOT to drag one of the 30 lb corpses from your freezer and try to steal the glory!...And as I said in my original comment as long as everyone had fun....Congrats on a good tournament

I missed it this year. Sure wish El Hotelito would remain open for the tournament. The one year I stayed there, I dont think there was an empty room.

Is it still open in the winter months?

Hook. Yes it is open until mid-April but when people start going north, it is hard for the person leasing the business to make a living with the cost of diesel to run the generator. It actually ended up open for the owner and a couple of friends. We did have a 55 ft. Hatteras enter this year and they may have had a plane looking for weed patties.

No, it is still for sale with nothing going on. The other two Hotel Las Flores look active.

The Posada las Flores in Loreto is open. I've never been to the one in La Paz. The one in Punta Chivato looks like it's been closed for a few years. It's a shame.

I loved staying there. And it was a relative bargain. There even had airplane fuel. It was so cool then.
