Gonzaga Bay House and Fishing Info

I am heading down to Gonzaga Bay the week of Oct 24th this year 2016.

Does anyone have a house for rent and know of a skilled panga captain with boat?

Thanks

Try Alphinsina's to get a ponga rental set up. If you can't find a house, I would recommend staying there if you can still get a room.

Try Bloody Decks as to some past threads about fishing San Luis Gonzaga. Captain Juan out of San Quintin has some friends there (at Papa Fernandez). Also a guy out of Rancho Grande...does scallop fishing...quite nice with a good clean panga...will try to remember his name. That is a great time of year to be on the Cortez in that area!

Thanks for all the info. For those that have been to Sacrificio can you tell me the distance and how the roads are from the main part of Gonzaga? I will have a non 4x4 Pathfinder possibly towing a 5x8 cargo trailer.

We are trying to assess whether you can kayak fish within a mile or so of Sacrificio boat ramp and can you shore fish down there?

The owners are not responding to my emails but we are going to call this week to the Ensenada owners to see if we will be able to get a cabin for 3-4 people.

For the most part we know Sacraficio is remote Baja and that is fine if we can fish and have a place to stay. Thanks

Sacrificio is about 1mile off the paved road...nice cabins ( short double wides).....easy kayak launch and shore fishing...large patio roof over south side of cabins...shower...hot water...flush toilet. The road in is well marked...soft sand in some spots..but never needed 4x4 in our Tundra or fj cruiser

The word is Gonzaga is fished out nothing there , move on . If you are a fisherman you will catch fish , if you are a newbie go to LA Bay get a guide to catch your fish for you. You will need to work for your fish . But worth it for relaxed atmosphere " Gonzaga Bay" from Buffeo to Final it is a great area .

Thanks for all the info. We are going to wing it and try to find a palapa on the beach.

Sacrificio is out as the locals have taken control of the place cutting off water and sewage and not allowing shore fishing. This is from the owner who is trying to regain control of the place.

We will use the maps from the Baja Catch and local info in hopes of catching a few fish.

Any beach camp ideas are appreciated.

El Sacrificio

I have been emailing El Sacrificio. They tell me everything is fine. Problem was over shore fishing??? According to them, they are operating as normal. I'm not there so I can't say for sure, but they insist that everything is fine??

Just so the OP doesn't panic at the one mile mark and is still miles from El Sacrificio, it is farther from the highway. While 4WD is rarely needed, if only in 2WD then know how to get over soft sand or unstuck if the worst happens. Have fun!

Sacraficio

That would be great if the owners cleared up the local trouble so quickly. We had a spanish speaking person call the owner about 2 weeks ago and the owner made it very clear the whole camp was shut down to tourists wanting to fish, stay in cabins and have showers and bathrooms.

You never know what will happen in Baja.... Hope things stay open for the Sacraficio staff and people looking to stay there.

You pass by the driveway to Campo Beluga to get to Sacrificio, so there is a camping option you have with palapas, showers and flush toilets.

My grandson and I stayed there in June. Something was going on as there were commercial fisherman staying in three of the back cabins.
