Watch your speed between Mojave and 395 and on 395 (lots of radar in there).
When I lived in Fresno, I took that route often to avoid L.A. en route to San Diego (using I-15 from 395).

It's the route I normally take, but have seen posts that say to take a run through L.A. Wanted to confirm that THEY are nutz!
What's your credit card number?!

Funny... what's YOUR CC #, LOL!
You can do the L.A. pass through Only if you are in the L.A. basin between 10 am and 2 pm OR after 8pm at night.

Thats almost the one I always used coming from Fremont before I moved here full time - but change the order of 86 and 111 -395 to I15 to I215 to 30
to I10 then-86s off I10 to El Centro and I8 to 111 to Calexico and Mex 5.
(the use of 30 lets you miss some of San Bernardino traffic)

David K, that must the L.A. in a parallel universe, not the one I live in
An L.A. pass through between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaha.
HAhaha.
Ha.
Heh.
Seriously, what parking lot, er, freeway would that be on? Not the 5, the 55, the 105, the 405 or the 605, or the 2, the 22, or the 91 or the 101 or
the 134, or the 110, or the 210 or the 710. Maybe the 73, but that's not in L.A. and it's only 13 miles long anyway. I live here and I drive those
beotches all the time, and believe me, traffic is to L.A. what rain is to the north shore of Kauai. I mean, I've been
banging-my-head-on-the-steering-wheel stuck in traffic on the @#$^&*! 405 at 2 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Yankee, take the desert route. At least
you'll have something to look at besides the back windows of 50,00o SUVs.

cut off 86
Coming down 86, you can cut off Brawley and most of El Centro if you turn right at S30 (Forrester Rd, I think) at Westmorland... It takes you
straight to I8 about 10 miles west of 111.
