yuma to hwy 5 south of mexicali
Crossing on Monday . What road from Yuma , etc . etc.
Thanks everyone . Looking forward to your thoughts on this route .

Take hwy 8 to mexicali east it is the simplest. Other ways may save you a few minutes but only if you don't get lost. If you are coming from east of
Yuma, ara y road to San Luis would be a little easier. Just cross at San Luis take the first right and get on the toll road, hwy 2 to Hwy 5

I-8 to 7 for the most freeway, or 98 for the most direct.
You can see the other roads to Hwy. 5 from San Luis or Algodones, too.

from Yuma take the new service HWY 175 to San Luis after you cross the border take the first right like Mick said, its a toll road
not expensive, take to HWY 5,, easy peasy

Crossing at San Luis is by far easier than putting up with the traffic of Mexicali. At the intersection of 2 and 5 you must make a right turn
towards Mexicali and then make a u-turn to San Felipe first chance you get. I will look for you wed or thursday in case you get lost

Ralph, how many (if any) toll booths are between Sam Luis and Hwy. 5 using Mex. 2-D? About how much are they?

2 and the toll was minimal. like 20/30 pesos each time. largest amount tis on the Mexicali/TJ bypass portion. Well worth it.

Hey Ligui, if your coming from Phoenix or east of Yuma, its the 195 to San Luis Rio Colorado. Don't go into Yuma and try to take the 95 south, as
there are many lights and stops on that route.. Easy drive off Interstate 8 to 195 (I think the exit is 7 or 8) going into Yuma fm Phoenix area..
Crossing at San Luis is a piece of cake. Get thru the check point turn right get onto Toll Road 2 towards Mexicali..Two toll boths at the start and
finish.. But, when you get to 5 you have to turn right and then make a U-turn the first chance you get.. Nice drive to San Felipe...

Araby Rd. just b4 you get into Yuma. Gas up at Fry's on Fortuna Rd.
Araby south is brand new Rd and takes you to 95 and the new San Luis bypass directly to the border
Be aware at about 3-5pm M-F is bad for traffic crossing both directions

i'm back and have lots of stories to tell . But first thanks to you guys giving me the right pointers to get around Yuma and then getting to Hwy 5
heading south .

I know the trip is over and WAITING on a Trip Report. 
When crossing at Yuma/San Luis I like to count down the highways down and back.
Follow 2 to hwy 3 to hwy 4 to hwy 5. Interesting drive along winding levees, through several towns and lots of farmland.
This avoids Mexicali if you have no need to go there, and there are plenty of stores and gas stations along the way.
