Passport Renewal
Does anyone have recent experience renewing
a Passport by mail?
Which, I understand is the only
way to do it. Mailing it in from So. Cal. Specifically wondering about the turnaround
time, how long it takes to get it back, since the current
Passport has to be mailed in
thanks for your time

Apparently you can hand deliver and get a 5 day turnaround time

Did ours this past year, I posted the details... I recall it was 3 weeks, and that was a week less than the site said to expext.

A friend in the states received his in less than 2 weeks. This was a couple of months ago. He did not expedite the application.

I just did this last month. Took about 2 weeks to get it back. Fill out forms online, print, supply photo, send in old passport, include $$. Was not
expedited.

Also +/- 3 weeks for me in mid-Sept via 'regular' speed precess (non-expedited). Old passport arrived 1st and new card a few days later.
This entails the extra $60 for expediting...

Send in the renewal no expedited Nov 3, received the new passport Nov 10, still waiting on the passport card, I just now (Nov 10) put in the SENTRI
renewal, we'll see how that goes.

sent my renewal non expedited October 20
arrived by mail November 7

Chula Vista Otay Ranch said they dont do renewals.
There is an official US Passport Agency downtown San Diego - https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/info...
tell them you need it expedited for trip, and I think the turn around is 24-48 hours. Pay expedited fee though. I got a lost passport card there a
replaced a few years ago. Make appt.

Gracias BN's for info, that is what is on sites I found, renewals
are to be mailed in, don't know if there are exceptions.
