might feel ok trying to fly one out there ... urban area's no way, plus I couldn't ever get any good a a small cheap one to see if I could fly ...

Someone talked me into buying a cheap one first. I could never fly it either. Worst advice ever.
The DJI ones aren't that much and practically fly themselves.
