Diesel

Want to come to Baja. I have a 2016 diesel pickup truck with a pop up camper and need to know if I can get fuel.(low sulfur) From the sounds of it this may be a problem? Any experienced diesel folks help?

If you search you can find a few threads about this. Basically you can get ULSD all the way south until Jesus Y Maria, just north of Guerrero Negro. They get their fuel from the tank farms in Ensenada which comes from USA (so I have been told). How far south are you going? I bring along 40 gallons in jerry cans and if I don't drive around too much I can avoid having to fill up down south or at least minimize it.

Thanks I'll check the map and see. Don't think I can carry 40 gallons but my tank is 21 and I have 3, 2 gallons on the roof in roto-pax.
The truck gets 22 mpg with the camper on (new 2.8 drama diesel) I get up to 30 mpg on the highway w/o camper.
Thanks for the info....lots of planning to do.

What brucedog said ^^^

With my 2011 Ram Cummins diesel I always top off at Jesus Maria when headed to Guerrero Negro for whale watching. If I go further south, I take my Tacoma

You will have people on Nomads tell you that you can run LSD with no problem, but I like to follow my owners manual.

As far as I have heard the truck will run just fine but the DPF will wear out prematurely which will hit your wallet. I have heard the the DPF on my Sprinter costs at least $1200

It really depends on the year and make of your diesel truck.
