Which cave paintings?
Montevideo and Las Tinajitas are both off the north San Borja road.
I posted several photos of Montevideo taken last September. See the Baja Extreme 2016 trip report.

Anybody have good directions to the Las Tinajitas rock art? Is it well marked?

It's in the next valley north of San Borja, suggest you contact Josďż˝ to guide you or one of his sons, very reasonable cost. It will be a good thing.
Here is Jose's son's card, and he can contact his dad (who doesn't speak English) for you...

I haven't done it since last January but the road was awesome. My friend just posted a video of our ride.

No problem, glad you liked them. I'm the guy on the xr650r. Heading back down in two weeks with 26 bikes and riders! I dont think I'll be riding
through San Borja this year though.

I just did it last week and it's in the best shape I've seen in years...easy easy and enjoyable. 22 miles of amazing Baja.
DREAM IT! PLAN IT! LIVE IT!

Did both roads to San Borja today and yesterday, camping at the mission palapas. The west road from Nuevo Rosarito is very rocky, slower than my last
time in 2009. Big campers and motorhomes should avoid.
The north road is superior for the north half and pretty rocky the south half. The better of the two choices.

By chance do any of you recent visitors to BOLA happen to know if there is cell service or diesel available?
Thanks!

Diesel yes, at the first station. No cell, but wifi available at various places.
