what is the best route and lane to cross? We're coming from Ensenada.

I don't know how well it is signed coming in on Mex 3, but you will have to head east to get to the end of the entry lanes. I missed them once while following my GPS right to the border. I would hate to have been driving your motor home through all of the turns I had to make getting to the right place.

For whatever reason, when I crossed there on 12/22, there was just a single line of cars! It wasn't very busy (23 min.), so I am sure that there would have been a second lane if there was more traffic.

If both lanes are open and you are driving a motorhome or towing a trailer, then stay in the left lane. There is a rather sharp right turn as you pass through the gate to the inspection booth. The left lane provides a wider radius for the turn.
