Your Fishing "Machine"..in Baja
Just wondering how everyone gets out their favorite "fish'in hole/ playa" when in Baja

I think that boat is bigger than your place in Loreto
Pescador: The panga was a new hull back in 82', and current motor is a Yamaha 100 4-stroke

Ok, now we are getting to the good stuff. Where did you get your hull? Did you finish off the center console and controls? What did you do for a
trailer? and finally, does it stay in baja all the time?
Dad and I had one in San Carlos, Sonora for many years and when I get a little closer to being fully retired and not just doing these short three
month trips, I am going to have another. I especially like the Arco hulls from La Paz but would love to get your experiences with yours.

Pescador..
The hull was from Shroyer's old boat factory in La Paz ($6,500 new). It has a 40 gal gas tank under the console. Front fish box (removable) . Rear facing seat is a 100 qt ice chest. The electronics are basic, but the
Lowrance 126 GPS is great. In the back transom box I have a Rule wash-down pump to run the bait tank and wash the boat down as we come in. Motor s a
Yamaha 100hp 4-stroke that was purchased in Ensenada, and delivered/ installed to Loreto. It priced out less than the same motor purchased in San
Diego
Trailer is a EazyLoader single axle, galvanized, and we only replaced the the axle in 20 years in and out of the water in Loreto. I have been looking
into a new trailer this year, but EazyLoader is not the same company they were 20 years ago. I am looking now at Pacific Trailers for a replacement.
The hull molds were sold to Ensenada Boat Works, and they still make a 23' there. It is a "wet boat" when the weather get rough, but has held up well
for the 20 year's of use. I just finished putting a new epoxy deck on her this summer

Thank you for the wealth of info. I printed off the info and will save it. I agree that Pacific Trailers are doing the best job with trailers and
their galvanizing process is great.
As soon as I can wear out this Klamath, and we are down south a little longer I am going to build one of these pangas. Mr. Chuck from the East Cape
figures that the Lupe Diaz boats from Los Barilles are about the best hulls available so I will try to stop and look at those this year.

Wet Ride
What causes your boat to have a wet ride? When looking at a hull, can you tell if it is going to be a wet or dry boat?

"Wet Ride"
On the panga, we get a little more splash off the bow due to how low we sit in the water (not a deep V construction), when moving in swells. My panga
sits low in the water, and has less freeboard than some of the other panga makes. It is also under 6' wide, so even standing at the center console you
can get wet.
This "getting wet" is only a problem in the winter months
