Palapa or pergola build in Los Barriles
Can someone please give me information on a palapa builder in LB. rates and different sizes would be awesome too.
Or suggestions on builders for small places/pools

Shepy 044 624 160 0665 not the cheapest in town, but great work and timely. Just finished one for us last season.

Benjamin Collins - excellent builder. No idea about the prices, but he is cheaper than his brother. I will try to find his number, but he is very
well known in town.

Just got back from Cabo San Lucas this afternoon and Benjamin drove up checking on the palapa next door that he is repairing. Tahitian weave - very
pretty. They had to tear part of it down to get the old motorhome out. Anyway...

Depends on what you are looking for. As far as I know, a pergola or Palo de arco (sombrela) is basically a shade structure and not water resistant.
My palapa is about 8 years old and has yet to allow a drop of water thru it. And I have witnessed some tremendous downpours. They generally have a
lifespan of over 20 years, depending on the hurricane winds. And it helps if you spend some money on good fishing netting over the top of the palm
fronds. I have no idea of the merits of the different weaves of the palms.

The largest and best looking palapas I have seen usually have rebar woven through them.

Rogbag, many people continue to talk me out of a palapa saying the bugs with eat it or whatever it may be. I was thinking palapa because it is water
resistant. do you know what the going rate or ball park of either. I have been getting told many different numbers.
pacsur are you located on the east cape and know of anyone?

There are lots of bugs down here. And eating palapas is just one of their hobbies, the other is biting you and me. We use G&T Pest Control once
a year to come in and spray the camper, house and palapa. The termites are voracious, and the little worm guys that infest bamboo and palm frond
stems are rampant, but you just keep spraying. Pretty soon you will get them under control.
I have no idea what the going rate is for building a palapa or shade structure. You need to be specific with one of the builders and they will give
you a bid. Lots of variables involved. You definitely want concrete columns for whatever you build.
