| Last vaquita will probably die this month,... thanks to Chinese, Mexican cartels/smugglers, and Mexican fishermen

 Sad!

 https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/27/world/americas/only-capti...

It appears the vaquita is down to just a couple individuals left. Chinese quacks and fools, using Mexican fishermen, should cause the extinction in a
matter of days... the Chinese and their Mexican fishermen buddies are probably probably rejoicing, hoping for increased fishing and smuggling
opportinities.

All involved in causing the extinction should be shamed - surely there is a place in hell reserved for them, eh?

| Adios Vaquita ?

There's room in Hell for lots of souls.

The "Vacancy" sign is always lit.

I suppose that means the Mexican government saves the three-million dollars ?

No worries, though, there will certainly be some other species on the way to extinction soon enough for all to get involved.

| Too Late to the Battle ?

Whenever some environmental or social event attains "Crisis" status, the level of earnest concern and involvement (and
funding) usually rises significantly.

 Bringing to mind the question:

Where were they (the concerned) when it might have a chance of success ?

Is it only the LOST causes that generate the passion ?

Hey, I've got a good idea?

Let's start a rumor that Mexican fisherman's livers are quite the aphrodisiac !

Being that they are really Macho and their livers have stood up to the copious amounts of beer and Tequila they have consumed. The older the liver
the better.

Add in the fact that Latin Men are recognized as great lovers and you have a home run.

The Chinese will spend BIG bucks for anything they think will improve their labido.

Thus reducing the amount of fishermen and improving fish stocks..

Give it a try and get back with the results.

I'm assuming that the crowd you converse with will give it the weight deserved.

I might suggest "street dogs" but they're already reserved for menu items in Tijuana Chinese restaurants.
Oooohhhh I know. Perhaps China should be introduced to the size and stamina inducing qualities of North Korean flesh.

 Sin verguenzas, the whole lot.

While some may say it is JUST a vaquita, and there are more pressing problems, the web of life is complex and interwoven. You can't disturb a flower
without troubling a star, the old saying goes..
Extinctions DO happen as part of this web of life, but when a species is decimated by human action based on greed and short sideness, it is
despicable.
i have thought for sometime on this human experiment here on earth and I think we can now conclude it is an abject failure. We are terrible at
taking care of one another, and are even worse at being stewards of the planet that sustains us.

Totally agree. Give it a few weeks; NPRK will help solve the larger problem than just Vaquitas.

BTW, people have been raising the alarm on the viability of the vaquita for awhile. No action was taken. It also seems to be human behavior that
nothing is done UNTIL there is a crisis to get attention and then, it is too late.

One thing the good ole US of A has , is the Endangered Species Act, which Nixon implemented. It is on Trump's chopping block. It has been a
generally, very successful program (not without problems, but has worked ) So , for those who do not want ANOTHER crisis, speak now to preserve
the ESA, to prevent a Vaquita in our back yard.

Unfortunately the huge amounts of money from Asia for the swim bladder's non-existent effect on the blood flow into a phallus (and no I have no idea
of this is what they are used for it is just my go to statement) the Vaquita will go the way of black rhinos and other species in which no empirical
evidence of successful medicinal use has ever been documented. Poaching for homeopathic cures always seems to win over facts (sheesh don't these guys
have viagra?). It makes me sick to my stomach that these cultures that want to keep up with modern technology still revert to this senseless killing.

One wonders whether there would have been more interest (and effort) made to keep the Vaquita around if they tasted as good ?
