Rosarito holdup?

Heard third hand that a hotel full of guests were ransacked room by room by guys with automatic weapons over the weekend. Kids seperated from their families for an hour. Apparently, the cops were nice enough to show up after the guys left.

Anyone able to confirm this?

That's what's wrong with third hand reports, and why they are not allowed in the courtroom, and are considered hearsay in the court of law, because rarely are third hand reports accurate.

So the bad guys ransacked the rooms and held the hotel patron families hostage over an hour! What were they waiting for Christmas?

It's true that not all negative news stories in Mexico make the US media outlets unless it's a pretty big story, a hotel robbery and hostage taken will probably make the local Mexican newspapers, and addition there are local blogs, and social media news sites in Mexico, and Rosarito, that would also cover such news worthy stories.

From by brief looking at sites like Rosarito en la Noticia, on Facebook, and other local newspaper local sites, I don't see such reports. Maybe, it's too early for the news to come out, or somebody is pulling someone's leg with such a sensationalized alleged third hand report.

Chicago, had over 100 people shot over this last 4th of July weekend!

Notice, that rarely if ever, do people try to use a news story like that to discourage tourism to Chicago, yet we see it all the time with Mexico, and Mexico bashing.

Second hand guy told me they threatened management with burning the place down. First hand guy had a bad experience. Who knows, maybe it was an illusion?

Well at least give us the name of the hotel, and perhaps someone could call them to verify such a report, otherwise it's irresponsible to go around repeating wild rumors without even basic facts like the name of the hotel.

Regarding Chuckie, someone needs to soap his mouth.

held up at gunpoint after leaving that Rene Casino, apparently
followed home, report was uniformed badged Police looking
robbers, yes indeed, unverified third hand, but no reason to
doubt the post

Nope not there, and I also checked the following links, and the usual group sites suspects on Facebook that cover Baja and the news, and I looked on a few Spanish Baja Facebook news sites, and nobody has this story that Woody talks about that may have happened according to his 3rd hand report.

Not here, not anywhere: ( some of these news sites are based in Tijuana, but they still cover Rosarito, and most of these sites don't pull punches and do report the news)

http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/inicio.htm

http://www.afntijuana.info/

Of course one is always free to scare themselves, and think of the worse of Mexico, although there are no verify first hand accounts ever happening.

Hey David welcome back. Maybe you can report on this robbery? Fake news? Or, boys being boys?

Either way, property values in BCS are safe tonight. Whew!

So you Chuckie, speak for everybody on "Baja Nomad?"

I don't think so Chuckie, and besides my credibility is not at issue here. The credibility of a 3rd party, and those that forward such outlandish rumors are at issue.

So far there is no corroborating evidence of a Rosarito hotel robbery, or hostage taking by a gang of bad boy Mexicans, who even decided to rob each hotel guess at that hotel that took an whole hour, while the Rosarito finest was out to lunch, and only showed up when the bad guys were long gone.

Oh wait, there are those on this forum that believe there is a news cover-up of most bad news coming out of Mexico or Baja, and it's probable that this large scale hotel robbery did take place, but that we will never know because of Mexico media cover-ups.

If anybody has actually took the time to read the local news outlets in Baja, would know that would be a ludicrous belief, and a big story like this alleged hotel robbery that included all the hotel patrons would not be missed.

How do you think the "Borderland beat" gets all their news?

It looks like David, agrees with me. No news story here, only a wild rumor about a Rosarito holdup.

You see some of these very negative type stories on travel boards. It's like some of these people were slighted in some way by a city, hotel, or person, and now they have an agenda against the place with an ax to grind.

Believe me I know the feeling, as I have a few people obsessed with me.

I still read the travel boards especially to a new city, and especially if I want to pick a nice hotel, but I will ignore the very good and very bad reviews, and instead look for an overall pattern of good or negative reviews.
