Mahi-mahi, their name in Polynesian, means “very strong.”

It always irritates me to read about Mahi-Mahi when referring to these fish in Baja related activities AND written about from a San Diego based rag. I know, petty, but it makes me feel better and may educate some.

"the fish is known as dorade coryphène, dorado, dolphin, dradu, lampuga, llampuga, lampuka, lampuki, rakingo, calitos, ti-rone or maverikos."

I'm not trying to take anything away from the winner, but not too long ago that fish would have been released to grow up, and not even brought to the dock for fear of embarrassment. Sad.
