Shrimp in San Felipe

Heading down through SF this week. Any recommendations on a place to purchase raw "fresh" shrimp or are the restrictions effecting that fishery up in the gulf. Direction if you have them please.

couple of blocks north of the round about there was a sign on the right side for a fish market down toward the bay. also, there used to be a shrimp place just south of Mexicali on 5 on the east side of the highway before getting to the toll road going north.
might look for those...

As you take the main road south out of town, passing the marina, you'll likely find guys with coolers in the bed of their trucks parked on the side of the road. These guys sell shrimp, fish, etc.

S.F. Shrimp

Ten days ago a guy was selling from his truck at the first Pemex as you approach San Felipe - Just beyond El Dorado Ranch, and on the right.

Large shrimp - good deal or not? he was asking $20 for a kilo

Down South shrimp taco prices have risen to approx $40p/$2 minimum! per taco. Our shrimp come out of San Carlos and vary of course for size & quality. Shrimp/fish mongers haven't been seen, yet. Local tin boats are catching Dorado, yt, and small Tuna. Where are you, Monoloco?! Time for a Campechana! Tio

To all the shrimp lovers, please remember two simple things: don't complain about the rising cost of the fish, and don't complain about the rising cost to the oceans. Eat, and enjoy, but don't biatch about either. Or the vaquita, or the elephants and ivory, or the rhino tusks, it's all relative, ain't it? Kinda like incest. Ain't bad if it doesn't hurt nuthin' eh?

BTW, I know this will be contentious, so smoke me. I don't mind.

Me too! Enjoying some tonight mixed with fettuccine alfredo and fresh off the tree Meyer lemon!

Now that being said, what freaks me out is this thought--- What if there were only 10 chickens left on the planet??? Stuff of nightmares right there, yes sir!! Think about that next time you have huevos rancheros haha!!

Both turtle meat and totuava were major Baja (Sea of Cortez) food items back in the 60s. Things change. Hopefully, their numbers will come back so they can be enjoyed again! Let's hope shrimp doesn't go down the same path.

A lot could be written about that, convictions are with the
individual. Some will not eat shrimp due to the way they are
typically harvested. Some will eat only panga
netted shrimp, that practice still has some bycatch. There is a responsibility
we all have, some champion it, some ignore it. My conscience
doesn't me do anything but at least try to side with the former, but to each his own

IF you Like it, Get it While you can ................

..............Before it becomes history.

IT being WHATEVER.

It's a shame that the Totouva is (for the most part) gone. It would be nice to buy it again, but that's life.

Enjoy that SHRIMP.

Whenever I buy Swordfish steak, I think "someday" ..............

I'd wish I bought more often.

The Point IS .....................

Shortages and (eventual ?) extinction are pretty much beyond OUR control despite all that ineffectual "feel good" social concern business.

Which DOES have some (small) positive effect in that it makes more available for others.

SO .................... Just ENJOY !
