Jack Swords Finds More Historic Sites: Manuel de Ocio's hacienda
Jack's photos
Here is an email from Jack that came with some of the photos:
"Spent some more time out at the old hacienda at El Oro (Rancho of Manuel de Ocio). Nice old dam, well buttressed with a huge deep lake. Also of
interest were mining recovery systems and what could have been another water driven machine. Photo also shows another horno like at Santa Ana (there
were 2 side by side).
This site is below El Triunfo east of El Rosario at El Oro (abandoned). Its location is 20 minutes away by bad dirt road from San Antonio (and then
Real de Santa Ana).
There is so much more to explore here and nobody seems to know about it. Enlisted the aid of a local who was born in El Rosario and he walked around
with us, but noone in town had any idea of the history of this old town (actually, besides the hacienda it is 4 other buildings...but they overlay
much older foundations, walls, etc).
Pretty extensive past as indicated by very old walls that obviously predate the old standing buildings. Someday maybe you'll get down here and we can
check out more."

Interesting photos
Interesting photos, although the brick ruins clearly are not from the eighteenth century. Did Jack find any other evidence of occupation, such as
pottery sherds?

Yes, Jack mentioned that newer building was done on much older foundations... He didn't mention pottery.

That makes sense
That makes sense, and establishes a link to an earlier period. Burned brick was a luxery in the past, unlike today.
