SpaceX Falcon rocket launch today Dec 22 at 527 PM from Vandenberg AFB
Should be visible to San Diego and northern Baja peeps by 529 PM -- look west, young man!
Sometimes these rocket launches right after sunset put on quite a show, other times not....

IF it's clear, we can usually get a good view of the Vandenburg traffic, usually heading southish. And moving really really fast.

Aah, a Jalama burger. Don't know what makes them so damn good, maybe the secret sauce or the shredded lettuce? Their onion rings are pretty killer
as well as the gut filling breakfast burrito!

Thanks, StuckSucks! We can tell the kids that vapor trail is Santa's rocket-powered sleigh getting an early start heading to Fiji, New Zealand, and
Australia (where Christmas begins before it does here)!

Or maybe its just the setting, one of my favorite local destinations.
We'll be on the beach at Pismo to watch the launch.

Saw it from San Juanico. Wasn't until I read this thread that I knew what it was. Pretty spectacular. Trail is still across the horizon

WOW, spectacular from LAX. T+24 mins and he is almost to the southern end of South America (to the west, over the Pacific).

We were on the beach at Pismo. It was spectacular, first because the sunset tonight was really something. Great colors and a crescent moon. Lift
off was just after sunset and the rocket and it's trail catching the light as it ascended was lovely. We had a good view of the booster separation
and watched till it was out of sight. I've seen quite a few launches here, especially when I lived in Avila Beach and had a great view across the bay
to the south but this was perhaps the best because of the timing relative to sunset.

We watched from top of Mt. Soledad. The sunset alone was spectacular and the rocket made it extra special. We had mission control on the mobile phone
so we could hear what was happening. First stage separation and then watching booster zig and zag and fall towards earth was a bonus. Cant wait for
the next one.
Thanks for the heads up!

Wow...now this is something you dont see every day here in Bahia Asuncion!
We were watching the sunset from the balcony overlooking the blowhole having a happy hour...

and saw a strange light in the northern sky...

Our guests were afraid it may have been a retaliation to a North Korean strike until I told them I had read about a Spacex rocket launch from
Vandenburg AFB today ..whew
We saw the booster drop off it and hang there a long time until it turned red like a flare and looked like it fell onto San Pablo.

It headed south for about 8 minutes until it disappeared. Super cool!!!

Jesus, spouting orange sparks behind!! AWESOME!!!!! Never seen anything like it!! What a show, still stoked!!!
