Map of Hwy. 1 to Bahía Magdalena
Not a lot to put on this one, but needed to show the roads I logged for the Baja Bound Guide for visual enhancement...

Are you going to sell a completed guide book or is it going to just be online? How long will it take to put out a guide book, I'm sure it's a lot of
work...

The Guide data gathering was sponsored by Baja Bound. What they will do with it hasn't been decided. Both online and printed editions are being
considered. I have a lot more plans I hope to accomplish.

The icon of a gas pump can't always fit in an ideal spot but implies a Pemex station is in that town or along that part of the highway. However, if
you told me which of the pump icons you are referring it would help. In this case, they are actually correct. In Insurgentes, there is a Pemex just
east of town on the north side of Hwy. 1 as well as one in the middle of town south of the Lopez Mateos highway. In Constitucion, there were several
Pemex stations on BOTH sides of Hwy. 1.

My recollection is that the Pemex in Insurgentes is just south of the traffic circle on the east side of Hwy 1.....isn't the one east of the traffic
circle closed?
Don't believe everything you think....

No, not last August... at Km. 1. Hey, maps and guides are only 100% accurate the day you are there researching for them. Thanks to Nomads, I can
update the info because things do change. Because of Baja Nomads and our shared passion, I think this guide will be one of the best!

maybe you should take another ride down to correct your data before you post
an error like this would make someone turn north instead of south for gas...its a BIG error

Picky.....there is another one if you turn right at the intersection. You can see the one your google earth pic shows from the intersection. Actually
there are almost as many Pemex stations as there are OXXO stores now. I think a gas station sign in a town should suffice. Great work David!

Seriously...
as I said Bob, the Pemex is EAST of town on the NORTH side of Hwy. 1 at the Km. 1 marker. There is also a station NORTH of that highwya jcn., in town,
on the WEST side of Hwy. 53, south of the Lopez Mateos jcn.
That is at least three Pemex stations in Insurgentes.
As I said, the pump icon is just letting you know there is gas in that area. For instance, at Lopez Mateos, the station is on the NORTH side of the
road as it enters town. However, I put the icon on the south side because of the 5,000 ft. airstrip icon of an airplane is located on the north. There
just was no reason to crowd both those on one side of the road line.
Thank you for your interest, however.

a map should be correct
garbage in garbage out
I spent ALOT of time correcting data and
mapping for computers to sort letters during my life...
if you make a published map it should always be as correct as possible

someone paid you to get data not take data from old maps

if I was grading this map you would get a B-

I agree Bob... and the gas pump is located where there is a gas station. I don't need to put three gas pumps around Insurgentes, as one answers the
need for a quick look to find a town with a Pemex.
The AAA Map uses the letter G or GD in a box to show gas stations. It just happens that they put the gas station symbol in the same place as I put
mine. I don't think there was a Pemex at Km. 1 on the road to Loreto back then, either? So, I am in good company, yes?

Have a look where the gas station is shown for Loreto... it isn't there, but it is in Loreto:

Here in the USA I use GasBuddy app to find lowest price gas. GasBuddy app is very precise about mapping gas stations. So is google maps. And Bing.
And every other online map. Just saying!
Never tried GasBuddy app in Baja, sounds like it would be a good app for customers to rate “honesty” of pumps

As long as we are considering locations... there is a new station on Hwy 1, east of the traffic circle on the north side.. this station sells both gas
and diesel. Something to consider on these maps when showing locations, is to identify what type of fuel is sold (ie AAA map)..
Getting correct locations of the stations would be a big help for travelers towing boats/ trailers and planning your fuel stops going north or south..
My other thoughts on these maps, is that they should be available as a “download” for gps units.. They would be much more useful for traveling
these routes with apps like Back Country or Polaris navigation loaded on your device.
Just my thoughts...

BOB, it is put where the gas station is, just as LaTijereta said. The Pemex is on Hwy. 1, east of that traffic circle, 1 km. The others are north and
south of that intersection. The one icon covers all of Insurgentes and it IS where there is an open Pemex in August 2017.
A town with three gas stations doesn't get three gas pump icons.
The maps are for use with the road guide, to enhance them. That I added gas pumps at all was to provide one added bit of info...

I am editing in Word by recommendation of a fellow book author and it works fine. I make edits many times to these maps. Try and pay attention goat.
Never too much work to have correct data.
The maps have been through as many as 6 edits each, so far. I put them out here so you guys can help my old failing eyes spot errors.

Please note Bob and Goat, on this map, the gas pump for Puertecitos is not out in the Gulf of California where the icon is placed (neither is the
runway):

Map vs guide
A guide should be as accurate and up to date as possible. It is a big bonus if is on line and can be edited as necessary!
With a map....I prefer KISS vs TMI!
