Site issues in the past few days...

I'm aware of the site being inaccessible at times over the past few days...

The datacenter replaced a switch leading to the server today, and hopefully that resolves the issue.

Hopefully.

More issues today at the datacenter... sounds like they had to replace a power source on a router.

Hopefully the pattern doesn't extend out further. Guess we'll see...

Unfortunately even more issues at the datacenter today... nothing specific to the server itself.

No, this shouldn't be happening at all, let alone with such frequency. All noted for consideration moving forward... fwiw.

Once again, thank you, Doug, for today's repair. I am sure these periodic outages are not fun to deal with. I hope you find us a new server with fewer hassles for you!

You really need to upgrade this site.

1. Nobody uses XMB. Get a real forum system.
2. This theme looks like it's stuck in the late 90s or early 2000s.
3. No security certificate? Seriously? It's 2019 for crying out loud. Get with the times.

Just what we need. Another “expert” which we already have
more than enough of.

Thank you for maintaining this site Doug- it's a great resource, appreciated by many.

One often overlooked benefit of a "low-tech" website is that it doesn't require a powerful computer with the latest software to use it. I was webmaster for an online journal for years and realized early on that some of our older readers didn't have the resources or the desire to view dynamic content. While not sexy, the lowest common denominator serves the greatest number of people.

I also thank you for the amazingly important site! I actually got to meet a new bajanomad yesterday! I was tickled pink, I kid you not. I love meeting new folks.

Thank you for the kind comments. Tech decisions have been purposeful for the past 15 years, and in alignment with who visits this site (and from where). Trends in tech are not so much in alignment throughout this time period.

Having said that, some tech updates/changes should be expected in the not-too-distant future.

DavidK would probably appreciate it if "tech changes" would make it easier to post photos...
I hope that tech will make our lives easier in the future...;)
