Hwy 3 Ensenada to San Felipe road alert
August 14, 2018
The Directorate of Ensenada Municipal Public Safety (DSPM) reported that due to a collapse on kilometer 15 of the Ensenada - San Felipe highway, there
is partial closure of the road, which is why citizens are urged to take extreme precautions in that area.

I drove that highway in 2017 from Ensenada to San Felipe and it was one of the WORST roads in Mexico I've driven. Can't imagine it has deteriorated.

Mostly a great drive today and 3 days ago. There was a fresh rock drop blocking a lane today in the San Matias Pass where they were just repaving on
Wednesday. The rockslide Terry mentioned at Km. 15 was cleaned up by Wednesday late morning.

I'll bet they got a lot of rain out at Mike's. Wash away the turds near the waterfall.

The fresh paving was only for a short distance in San Matias Pass, however, overall, Hwy. 3 was great. I drove the east half last year and the road is
better. I think I only dodged a couple of potholes yesterday.
Jumping ahead of my forthcoming trip report, here are Hwy. 3 (Ensenada-San Felipe section) pics:

I reported last December how rough that trip was in my German car with the very low profile tires.
Then some ignorant and jealous trolls jumped in and scoffed at the mention of the make of car that I had been so audacious as to own so I just left it
at that.
Back to the report, it was unnerving to try and make time from San Felipe, come around a curve at a reasonably rapid rate and run into some really
ragged pavement.
The aforementioned, but still anonymous make of German car was not happy running across those stretches.

That's odd. I take my Ferrari off road in Baja all the time, never had a problem. Maybe go Italian next time?

Do you drive an Opel? Sorry, the troll living under my keyboard made me post that!
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Envy is such a sad thing to endure
Maybe when you grow up you can have a performance car.
Send me your address, I will mail you both a Hot Wheels Ferrari you can play with in the dirt.
Better yet, when you come up to Central Cal let me know and I will let you sit in my Porsche and play with the paddle shifter.

Perhaps in Corcoran having a Porsche is unique. Down here in North San Diego County they are like roaches. No one cares. Maybe their insecure
owners, perhaps.
