Thanks! Looking at maybe catching the race around RM 245 unless someone has some better suggestions. We intend to camp.

That might work. Let me talk with my group. If we're coming down that way, I'll let you know.

I know Trophy Trucks should average about 50 mph.

How about the motos? I'm especially interested with the first 300 miles or so.

Thanks!

There are places where a Trophy Truck can hit a top speed in the 140mph range or more for short periods. Usually a dry lake bed lets them run fast for a little longer. They have to be very careful at that speed because the truck is not as aerodynamic as a NASCAR or Formula one car and they could get airborne or drift sideways with bad results.

does anyone have the entire course in GPX or KML or KMZ?
not imbedded - just a file to download
the SCORE site only offers start and finish tracks as downloads

It is on the SCORE web site. They are labelled Pre-running, start finish and total course.

http://score-international.com/2018baja1000/gps/raceweek/sta...

Pre-running is the loop course from Ojos Negros and back.

Start finish is just the course from the start to Ojos Negros which is also used as the course back to the finish.

Total course is the two above put together.

And they use the south end of Pioneer road, and they get there by another new road from the west leading to the general area of the mine (south of the mine).

"new road from the west" has been there for a long long time
used it often - very scenic drive
