How to type Spanish letters and other symbols we use on Nomad for 2019
With just a couple more weeks in 2018, having these 'Alt' codes sure help us on PCs type in Spanish special letter and degree symbols, etc.
This list has been posted before, but with fewer letters, and when this site is booted, these special letters often turn into little black diamonds
with question marks in them.
Here is the latest and largest list for Nomads, plus a link to the site with ALL non-typical letters and symbols...
How to use them:
*Press and hold the ALT key.
*While keeping ALT key pressed, type the code for the symbol that you want, and then release the ALT key.
Alt + 160 = á
Alt + 130 = é
Alt + 161 = í
Alt + 162 = ó
Alt + 163 = ú
Alt + 164 = ñ
Alt + 165 = Ñ
Alt + 129 = ü
Alt + 154 = Ü
Alt + 0193= Á
Alt + 144 = É
Alt + 0211= Ó
Alt + 0205= Í
Alt + 0218= Ú
Alt + 168 = ¿
Alt + 173 = ¡
Alt + 248 =°

David - thank you for the repost. I'm assuming the above works for a PC running Microsoft Windows, but not a Mac (which I use at work) or a Debian
Linux desktop (my home system). I often end up copying and pasting symbols like ñ instead.

Correct, not for an Apple computer. If anyone has the same codes for Mac, please add!

option - 1 = ¡
option - ? = ¿
option - e + a = á
option - e + e = é
option - e + o = ó
option - n + n = ñ
option - u + a = ä
option - u + o = ö
option - u + u = ü (Ligüi)
option - 0 = º
on the Mac alt and option are the same key
so, I could have done:
alt - 1 = ¡
alt - ? = ¿
alt - e + a = á
alt - e + e = é
alt - e + o = ó
alt - n + n = ñ
alt - u + a = ä
alt - u + o = ö
alt - u + u = ü (Ligüi)
alt - 0 = º
sorry, I don't have a map of this
no pictures from memory lane either

I must be doing something wrong. When I press and hold the Alt key then type any of the numbers above I get a ding sound from my pc and nothing shows.
Windows 10, probably the worse system microsoft has produced, I hate it. I'll try it later on one of my laptops with windows 7.

Windows Character Map
What David posted is only for vintage Win computers
Here is how to do it on later versions like Windows 10
=== ===
Click the search task button and type Character Map
And get a popup window with all the special characters. (shown below)
Click on the character you want the and click then select. Then copy/paste that character into your text.
Project: Make a new list of your favorite characters and copy them to Word for ease of future use and save it to your desktop for future use.

In Windows 10 make sure the numbers lock is on and use just the number keypad.
Holding ALT down key in the number and it takes a second for the character to appear on a windows word page.

fwiw... sometime in 2019 I will begin the process of moving this site to a new platform... for better or worse. Hopefully the former.
This means new software, and a laborious task of getting the current database - and its format - into the new database having a different format
(essentially).
