Loreto Bay Company Passes $100 Million Milestone in Home Sales

http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?nd...

March 14, 2005

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2005--The Loreto Bay Company announced today that The Villages of Loreto Bay has exceeded $100 million in residential real estate sales in its first 17 months of operation. Loreto Bay is an authentic Mexican seaside community in Baja California Sur, designed under the principles of sustainable development.

In the last four months alone, purchases totaled approximately $30 million, showing a remarkable growth trend. Home buyers are attracted to Loreto Bay's mission to combine ecology and luxury, with a focus on New Urbanism. The development's sustainable practices include programs for sustainable energy, water renewal and land stewardship, as well as creating economic opportunities through new jobs and local businesses.

Available models include courtyard homes, luxury condominiums, beachfront and golf course custom villas and now Beach Club Villas. The walkable villages capture the charm of old-world Mexico with Spanish Colonial architecture. Private and public courtyards invite residents to enjoy the casual indoor/outdoor living characteristic of Baja. Despite recent trends in real estate inflation, these homes are reasonably priced starting in the mid $200,000s USD.

"The Loreto area is quite unique," noted Jim Grogan, president and CEO of Loreto Bay Company. "It's a place where the mountains, desert and sea come together in a picturesque and pristine natural environment. In this environment our owners are delighted to own a beach home at very reasonable prices. This milestone is the direct result of the extraordinary effort of our people, Team Loreto Bay, and their dedication and professionalism," Grogan added.

Many homeowners agree. Cal and Vicki Switzer of Colorado commented, "We were very impressed with the entire staff of professionals that they have assembled to bring their vision to reality. Loreto Bay is a magnificent place and we're very pleased that the manner in which it is being developed will not take away the beauty and serenity of the area. We are very proud homeowners."

Loreto is located approximately 700 miles south of San Diego along the Sea of Cortes in Baja California Sur. The $3 billion project will create a town of approximately 6,000 homes in pedestrian-oriented, car-free neighborhoods with the use of bicycles and electric carts as primary transportation. The project includes development of a world-class Beach Club, Golf Club, plus space for retail, entertainment, artisans' village and recreational facilities. Of the 8,000 acres encompassed in the master plan, 5,000 will be maintained as a natural "green lands" preserve. This area will have trails for hiking, cycling and horseback riding, plus areas for organic farming and orchards.

Loreto Bay Company is partnering with FONATUR, Mexico's tourism development agency, to develop the area. Loreto Bay was identified by FONATUR more than 20 years ago as one of five prime tourism destinations in Mexico, the others being Cancun, Los Cabos, Ixtapa-Zihuatenejo and Huatulco.

Loreto

Tim. You should drive around the streets of Loreto, but keep a hand on your jaw, to protect it from bruising. You'll be dumbfounded. Huge homes going up all over town. Some behind four walls. Others just with short iron fences. It's everywhere except in the Zaragosa colonial, which is just south of the arroyo. And another development by the Mexican gentleman Salvat, that includes dredging a marina into his project. That is north of town about 1/2 a mile from the LaPinta Hotel. There is a site on the www. Try looking under Loreto Realty. Or Alexander Real Estate Loreto Baja using Google. It isn't just Loreto Bay that's putting Loreto on the map!!!

I make it down several times a year...BUT, still can't believe the way they are advertising the price as if it is a bargain at 200kish. Even with the new air service, it is still a bit tough to fly in/out. Still love the place....but still makes a person wonder.

Loreto Bay promotions

Yeah, Mike. And their sales events for the past six weeks have been every two weeks they have been flying people into Loreto who have been buying like there is no tomarrow. This weekend is another. Lots of people out there with "tons" of money. So they will spend it somewhere, so why not here????

Loreto.....

We drove down to Loreto yesterday from Coyote Bay...about 62 miles south of our home in Coyote Bay. We knew about all the new developments there, but wanted to see for ourselves. We were a little amazed. It is a boom town...like any American city. Took a tour of the new Canadian housing developments and talked to quite a few townspeople about it. I got a mixed report from them. But that's progress...you can't stop it...even in Baja.

Maybe we should rename Baja Sur to Leisure World?
