New Mission Books from Max Kurillo and others from Sunbelt


This is the 250th anniversary year of the Franciscans expansion from the peninsula (the land first called California) to the new region of Alta (Upper) California. In 1769, (Saint) Junípero Serra founded the first two Franciscan California missions: 1) San Fernando de Velicatá and 2) San Diego de Alcalá.

Sadly, the first mission is ignored and somehow, San Diego gets all the celebration. 79 years after the founding, San Diego Bay and north became part of the United States and 'Alta' was dropped from the name Alta California.
