Update on paving through Gonzaga?
It has been a while since the last rumors that the road heading south from San Felipe down through Gonzaga Bay, Coco's Corner, Lake Chapala to MX-1 is
being prepped for pavement.
What is the latest update on this rumored project?
I wonder what Spring Break is like in Gonzaga?

Rumor has it that Yum Brands, Inc, just purchased the Rancho Grande store and will turn it in to a KFC! Not to worry though, they will also have a
branch office there that will sell gasoline when the Pemex across the street is closed.
Oh, and one more thing, they will raise their own chickens right on the property. You will hear them crowing for miles.

I have read...
that the improvements to the road below San Felipe have been code named 'Project Ma?ana' by those in charge at Baja-Cal-Trans.
The environmental impact studies are in the preliminary phase, and unlike such studies that can drag on for decades above the border, will be
completed within 3-5 years.
I have seen the blue prints for all the Topes that need to be constructed in conjunction with the roadbed improvements. They will be just under 500
Cm's in height, with ramps on each side, extending 25 Cm's long. Hummers will have no trouble negotiating these new Topes - but the rest of us will
be making short detours around them in the dust on the side of the new road.
There will be toll booths manned by federal agents with M16's every 50 Kim's or so. Interestingly enough, each toll will be the equivalent of one
Pacifico Ballena...go figure.
Several new Pemex stations are being planned along the route. However, due to the lack of electricity in that part of Baja, they will be powered by
solar panels and small fuel pumps with 1/4 inch hoses. Expect long delays in filling your Navigator's 50 gallon tank! I understand that under a new
program patterned after California's Dept. of Motor Vehicles, you will be able to make a reservation up to one month in advance to fill your vehicle.
Ah, progress...it's our most impotent product!

Future???
There will be a paved side road built at Km. 32 going west 7 kms. to a new housing development, to be called 'Sulfur Hills'... or 'Lomas de Azufre'
Outdoor bar-b-ques will not be allowed at the risk of the GROUND catching fire and poison gas destroying all life, down wind!

2 Pastrami sandwiches on dark rye for Bruce R Leech. He likes to eat as he watches the hillside blow up.

Paving update
Just returned from whale watching @ GN a week ago. We passed 3 survey crews between Puertecitos and Laguna Chapala. We inquired re Schedule and were
told that the "freeway" construction would commence within one year and be completed within five years. We'll see. Coco is considering a listing on
the New York stock exchange. Rob
