Chapala to Pacific
EDIT: The following was a reply and not the original first post of a new thread. It is about the next road system south of Laguna Chapala to the
Pacific, often known as the San Antonio road. Here was my reply to 'BajaRun', the OP (original poster):

4WD or ORV with ground clearance only, deeply rutted, long downgrade between San Antonio and La Miseria.

Nope, it was a wet winter before I was there so that may be why.
The one place where silt was the worst for me in 2007, and it was bad in 2017 (but not as bad) was the coast road north of Punta Cono where it swings
east to meet the inland road. There was also some silt before getting into Puerto Canoas, from the north, but not very bad.

@DavidK, just out of curiosity, have you taken the road to the north of the San Antonio/La Miseria one out to the coast above Bahia Blanca?
The one where 5 connects to 1 at KM 233?

No, I sure wanted to, however. Running into the desperate couple at La Miseria erased my plan to drive out from the coast to Chapala. I have TW and
StuckSucks to thank for the description of that road and in light of the rain damage the previous winter, I also labeled it as a 4WD road for my map.
The road is visible on satellite images so I could map it exactly as it is located.
Out of curiosity, why did BajaRun remove his posts???

The easiest way is to go South to Santa Rosalíala, then drive North.
Much easier drive and the better bays are 30 miles above SR, anyway.
Bigger adventure going straight across though.

If you do go it is better to go in from H1 in case the dry lake bed, about 4 miles in, is covered with water. You probably wouldn't want to drive all
the way from the coast just to turn around.
Access is on the north side of the restaurant just south of the H1/H5 jct. It was part of the Baja 1000 course last year.

How many of those gnarly downhills were there between La Miseria and San Antonio?

La Miseria is down from San Antonio, not the other way.
It is one long downgrade going from east to west. In mid-2017, it was badly eroded and 4WD only, indeed for safety. See my trip report for more
