Hurricane damage potential

Not Baja specific right now,.... but....

Damage in Bahamas adds a new twist with massive oil spill:

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/news/article/oil-spill-caused-by-hurricane-dorian-in-bahamas-is-catastrophic-environmentalists-report

Wind and flood damage seem to be the predominant damage in Baja storms....an oil spill was something that never occurred to me...:o

Oil spills would certainly pose problems with any natural disaster such as Dorian. The infrastructure oil requires such as pumping stations, storage facility’s, and networks of pipes are extremely vulnerable. The results of the Japanese Tsunami of several years ago are nowhere near over. Plenty of man made infrastructure around the world just waiting for the next disaster.

I don't know if southern Baja has similar oil storage systems, but think I saw them in the Pichilingue area some years ago....sure would mess up a lot of coastline...

I am not on an eco rant perspective, but appreciate such vulnerability in infrastructures.

Good Point...Once again, what can WE do to mitigate this risk? Or ask be done? If memory serves, there is a fiber optics backbone which carries most of the bandwidth the length of Baja and waterlines as well..
