Dias de Muertes In La Paz

Just arrived last night for a long weekend (live in Chapala, Jalisco).

Have heard there will be altars on display. Have heard alternately, the altars will be at the Instituto (Universidad) or at the Teatro....and heard they are only on display tonight, while another source said they will remain thru the weekend.

Anyone got the real skinny on the altars in La Paz as far as where and when and for how long?? Muchas gracias in advance.

This from Roz in La Paz who maintains a calendar of La Paz events:

"Festival de Dia de Muertos
The Festival de Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead Festival is a one-night festival (traditionally was two nights) to be held on Friday, November 1st at the Teatro de la Ciudad in La Paz. There will be a display of altars to the dead, a competition for those dressed as Catrinas and Calaveras, traditional foods and entertainment on stage. Art workshops are available for kids and regional food and drink will be for sale. A must see event to truly understand El Dia de Muertos, which is a traditional Mexican celebration that honors the dead.
The Teatro de la Ciudad is located on Navarro between Altamirano and Heroes de Independencia. The Festival starts at 5:00. Admission is free."
