Pescadero - Santiago

Hola!

Next, we are thinking to go camping up in Santiago area and enjoy the natural springs before heading home via San Jose. Right now we are in El Pescadero near Playa Cerritos - wondering if anyone else is headed that way today? Otherwise we will hitchhike and bus if we get dropped in the Cabo area.

Also, please let me know what you think of Santiago and the hot springs for camping, if it is just better to rent a car in SJ and drive up? Is it going to be stupid busy because the weekend? Is there some better camping in the region that we can enjoy? (We started our trip travelling the East Cape)

Gracias!

The little town of Santiago has gas, stores, a small museum, restaurants, and the built hotsprings. Outside of town there are other natural hotsprings campgrounds. When I attempted to get to one, the arroyo was a stream and I was unable to cross. Just at the outskirts of town there is a major junction -- goes left to those 2 hotsprings campgrounds, straight for the waterfall, hiking trails, campground, cabins at Sol de Mayo, and just a bit further straight, the long dirt road to the Sierra de la Laguna trailheads. Once you get to that junction there is a large billboard with a map that shows what is along that road. All that region is rural, and when I drove it, there were only a handful of other vehicles. There may be people at the hotsprings but not all will be campers. Would be best to rent a car.
