That is wonderful! Do you have a mailing list so that it comes automatically as events are added or once a week?

Thanks all. I added a subscription option on the right sidebar. Not sure if it will recognize the events getting added but give it a try.

heroica is a title granted to cities by the pres if the city had a significant battle that was favorable for mexico.
i think there was some battle in mulege during the mex-america war.
Woke!
“...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America
will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”
Prefered gender pronoun: the royal we

Yep. The official name of the town not to be confused with the municipality of Mulegé.

Thank goodness Captain Manuel Pineda and his men won as I would hate to think that Baja would be part of the United States ...
That would just F*UCK up everything !!!
Since I've given up all hope, I feel much better

Yes, a historic town indeed... the 4th California mission (founded in 1705) is there, too. Thanks for the replies... I just don't remember seeing that
addition to the name painted on the entrance when I was last there??
I did an article of the American occupation of Baja California, including the battle at Mulegé: https://www.bajabound.com/bajaadventures/bajatravel/occupati...
The battle for Mulegé, Oct. 3, 1847

That battle, which was more of a stand-off, did not determine if Baja remained part of the U.S. (we had already occupied La Paz, with our flag flying
there and at San José del Cabo, too). It was during the negotiations after Mexico surrendered when the issue came up that an American "finger"
dangling in front of the Mexican mainland was "demoralizing" and since our interests was San Francisco Bay and Alta California primarily, giving back
the peninsula and sufficient dry land to connect it with the mainland was not seen as too big a deal to the American negotiators.
While having Baja remain undeveloped and pristine was enjoyable for many of us Nomads, the Mexicans who lived there after the war continued to feel
neglected by Mexico City for many decades... and only getting "one little highway" down the peninsula, at the end of 1973.
