Since my original thread about heading up the peninsula got hijacked, I'll start this to inform all of you still waiting to come north.
I left La Paz Wednesday 15 April and with an overnight stop halfway, crossed into Calexico East today April 16 at 2:15 pm local time. Im Canadian and
had no problem as I thought I wouldn't.
Now, for all the gossip and fear mongers on this site, with the exception of a med checkpoint and quick temperature laser scan at Loreto, there was NO
blockades anywhere, including the border at GN. Waved thru the puestos and traffic was almost non existent.
Now you have it. Ignore those who are living in their mother's basement and pack up and leave.
You'll get home no worries and have a wonderful journey.....far too many people on this site who a need a hobby..

A day and a half to the border is some serious driving! I did it myself once due to an emergency, not my choice of timing.
Thanks for the feed bac, and glad it was drama free...except for on this board of course!

Easy drive
We pre-ran the 1000, ended up in Los Arcos Hotel in La Paz on a Saturday night.
Breakfast the next morning (Sunday) at 8 and sitting at my desk back in Modesto the next morning (Monday) at 9 a.m.
Now, that is serious driving....
In a beat up old pre-runner to boot.

Left Punta Final yesterday the 17th and no problems, no temperature checks, nothing, just the usual military check points and they really didn't want
to interact. Made Mexilcali west in 4 hours, drove right up to Sentri, no wait.

Did you notice if any of the hotels were open on the way up? Loreto, GN? Sorry just thought I'd ask. Sure they weren't. Was supposed to head home in
10 days to Colorado. Really no point in going back there of course, still completely shut down.

Well, that is good news! Travel with no problems is great. Bear in mind that Baja changes on a minute to minute basis. What works on Monday may be
radically different than what happens on Tuesday. That is the beauty of Baja.

e. 4/20/20: TRAVEL REPORT: Made it fine to San Ignacio. San Ignacio Springs yerts are way luxurious and spread out. They are NOT officially open
(no advertising) but do have permission for travelers only.
Made it from Leonero in 9 1/2 hours. Roads pretty empty. Gas stations open everywhere. No more health checkers after Constitution! Mulaja wide open
and no one in masks except us. Easy trip so far.
Day 2: Travel was easy. 5 hours from the WONDERFUL yerts at San Ignacio Springs to San Felipe. Road construction with one lane open in a couple
spots km 142 and 260 (that one is north of the turn off for LA Bay) The sign marking hwy. 5 is down so be alert. Tons of new pavement, the wild
flowers are in full bloom, a few rocks to watch for o the road, gas everywhere and take out food readily available. Only delay was the crowded
border crossing at San Luis Rio Colorado because Algodones was closed. All web info said Algodones was open till 10 PM but there was zero line and we
were feeling soooo lucky till we got to the gate and it was locked. We got to the crossing at SL Rio Colorado at about 4:30 on a Sunday evening so it
took about 3 hours. No secondary thank goodness! We got the last room at a Motel 6 in Yuma. Only take out at restaurants…safe travels everyone

God, I'd love to make a dash across the border and head for the Seven Sisters for a few days. Very tempting.

If you do jz stop here and ride. We are riding as no one in back country anyway. Restaurants take out only very few people on road. Beach wide open as
no town on beach ,or people anyway.
