February 2020 Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos
Seeing Grey Whales in BCS had been on our Baja bucket but our timing never seemed to be right. This past February on our way back to Mulege we decided
to stop at Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos and go on a tour. The road out from Ciudad Insurgentes had been recently repaved and was an easy drive even with
our RV. We booked a 8am tour with Piratas Tours and they confirmed we could stay the night in the parking lot. I think we paid 10 pesos per person.
The whale watching center was really nice. It looked like the government has invested in this town and center.
We had a great seafood dinner at one of the restaurants in the center and went to bed early.
We woke up the next morning to calm conditions and whales cruising around the lagoon.
Our guide and captain Jimmy was awesome. He spoke great English and seemed excited as us to see the whales.
We saw a few babies and moms in the lagoon and then headed out to the sand bar to find the friendly whales who wanted to interact with humans.
Jimmy had us splash the water to attract the whales.
Incoming.
Captain Jimmy coming in for a smooch.

I am guessing that was a sunset, but I agree that is a great photo. Thanks for posting!

Yes indeed, crazy-good... and I stand corrected, sunset, not sunrise!
