Insurance
I know there are a lot of options and ways to go about insurance these days. I've always used Baja bound and usually get a policy for my moto or car
for the duration of each trip.
With retirement coming up soon, we will be taking longer trips, around 4-5 months. So how does a drivers license policy work? Is that the way to
go?
Do most people get a policy for a year if you are going to be there for several months?
Our truck will be new as well as our camp trailer so I know I want good coverage, so I'm not really trying to save a dollar by o skimping on coverage.
I read an article recently about a couple that was able to get Mexican insurance from their local AAA office, I've never herd of this, has anyone done
that?
Has anyone bought international medical insurance for traveling, not so much for Baja but mainland Mexico and points South?

Go to their website and read up on the available policies.
Isn't the driver's license policy only liability?
I get the annual policy that is for tourists who will be in Mexico for 3-4 months of that policy year. It is the better (cheaper) way to go than a
daily policy, if you will be in Mexico more than about 3-4 weeks in a year.

I buy a 12-month, full coverage policy from Bajabound and carry a copy of the policy in the car.

We buy our Mexican Insurance (home & auto) from our agent in San Felipe. A DL policy covers husband & Wife in non-Mexican registered vehicles
but not the Vehicle itself. It’s an annual policy. Our covers all of Mexico. If your vehicle is worth enough you can buy an annual policy for theft
and damage on it as well.

A DL policy is only liability, I just bought one here in SF last week and was $127 USD, drive anything but a moto, quad or RV. Ricky Phatass was $200
and was only can't drive an RV, pretty much everything else was covered and the limits of both policies were the same.

Is it one policy with two drivers listed on the policy or a separate policy for each driver?
Annual cost for two drivers?
I looked into this many years ago and, at that time, we had to have a separate DL policy for each driver. The two DL premiums exactly equaled the
single premium for a standard, liability only policy for a specific vehicle.
Sounds like this may have changed?

Mrs. Phatass told me I could have up to three people on their policy but the cheaper place I bought from only allowed 2. Also, only US or Canadian
licenses, they won't put a Mexican license on the policy.

My liability only any us posted car 2 people on policy 120 year. Full coverage when I had new prerunner 400 a year

my DL policy allows 2 additional drivers....$85 a year. split that 3 ways if you want. mex ins. can be really affordable

Thanks for all of the info, I will definitely need full coverage on my new Gladiator, same with our camping trailer. Sounds like a yearly policy will
still be cheaper then one for a few weeks at a time.

We get our DL policy from MexProOnline. Recommended to us by BajaBound since BB was unable to offer a DL policy that covered motos. Less than $200 /
year to cover the wife and me. Liability only but that works for use with multiple motos and a few old trucks. Also have a seperate full coverage
policy for our newer truck.

No. It is a tourist policy so only covers driving a non Mexican plated vehicle and without a Mexican DL.

I recently checked AAA and it was more expensive than Bajabound, I ended up getting a year policy from Lewis and Lewis - which was the least expensive
and seemed to have decent reviews. My SUV is a 2008 so I was just looking for the lowest cost option.

'Cheap' insurance is worthless if it doesn't work when needed or have staff to support your claim or answer your questions.

Yes, I was very skeptical of some of prices i was seeing when they were way below most other insurance companies. Does anyone have experience of
actual claims that were denied or they made life miserable to actually get paid out? Any great experiences?
