Deaths projections for Mexico

Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington is forecasting 88,160 people in Mexico will die through October 1.

The forecast assumes Mexican state and federal officials will impose or sustain social distancing when deaths per day in each state reach 8 per million people.

Were Mexico to continue easing social distancing, the COVID-19 death toll could climb to 151,433.

It is really hard for me to believe only 88K will die. I keep picturing Mexico City alone, and it is hard for me to believe that covid 19 isn't running rampant through the slums. The excess death count in a few years will be the only true picture of how many people passed from covid around the world.

a couple things come to mind.
most working class locals i know have more family under one roof than north Americans .
additionally, the majority of locals i know choose not to use seatbelts.

this might say something about how risk/avoidance
