See 'Desolate Baja' Sunday Sept. 13 on ESPN2 8:30 PM PDT, actually 9!
Just saw this post from Cameron Steele on Facebook:
Cameron Steele
·
It’s a place I consider majestic and dangerously remote.
A place I grew up in, a place where my father shared his racing with me. Where I have experienced some great highs and some terrible moments.
It’s a place that has shaped me and the people of Baja continue to impact me and guide who I am today. We live and miss them as it’s been since
the finish line of the Baja 1000 in November since I have been back.....
Don’t take it lightly, it’s serious. It’s hot, its cold, it’s rough, it’s desolate and no one is around to help for the most part.
Through the magic of TV 8:30 pm Sunday on ESPN2 you can see some of the tough stuff we have encountered.
Blessings to all, be safe.

"desolate" is sort of an insulting descriptor for baja.
sounds like he is generating drama by calling baja bleak and dismal (the meaning of desolate).
how rough can it be if he has a helicopter accompanying him carrying ice cream bars and c-cktails, and he travels in a pack of 70+ people on his
catered tours?
Woke!

des o late (adjective) - (of a place) deserted of people and in a state of bleak and dismal emptiness.
Hey, it's Cameron's show. He can name it whatever he likes. But, the word 'desolate' certainly jumps out at you when scrolling through hundreds of
shows and programs on a remote. I'll be watching it.

"Desolate' probably describes your basement where you read Baja blogs

I love driving waaaay out on a back road (yeah, in my 2 wheel drive truck) getting out and enjoying..... well, pretty much enjoying nothing.
No people
No traffic
No noise
Just a great big wide open desolate stretch of Baja desert.
I guess you need to experience it to understand it.
Basement doesn't cut it, sorry.
And, knocking Cam Steele is lame.
Proves how little you know about one of the really good guys!!!
Who is a major benefactor for the kids at Rancho Santa Marta which I have supported from the very beginning....
and a pretty darn good competitor to boot.

btw... since it wasn't specified, it's at 8:30 *PM*.
ESPN2's "World of X Games" episode of "Monster Energy's Desolate Baja" is what I see on the schedule.

Fun show, it was mostly footage from past shows. I even saw me for a couple seconds, lol!
They did show the destroyed road from San José de Magdalena to Mission Guadalupe, that we drove easily in May 2019. They couldn't get through this
time.
The show didn't start until 9:00... The previous show/ race ran long.

My dvr recorder only caught the first half due to the previous race going a half hour long.
Bummer.
I hope it repeats some time so I can watch the second half.
Thanks David for the notice.

If it ends up on YouTube or another showing, I will post that here. This happened once before to a Cameron Baja special... some other Gran Prix also
ran long.

Mine too and I didn't record the second show. I wonder if Direct TV allowed you to go for another 30 minutes. I'm now on Spectrum and it doesn't so I
didn't get the 2nd half.

Tom, I have Spectrum and you can adjust the DVR recording to record both before and after the show additional minutes... at least 30. On the DVR I
have, anyway. I asked Cam on his FB page if there will be more showings or a YouTube posting... The show was mostly previous bits from shows
(obviously as there were no tours in 2020). However, the Rip to Cabo 2019 parts I had not seen before and that included the Mission Guadalupe canyon
accent fail (from SJ de Magdalena) and the very funny Curt LeDuc impersonating Cameron, dyed hair scene at Cataviña!

This program was good - detailing the enormous amount of hours that went into planning a 30 rider moto across the Baja peninsula with crew and trucks.
Surprising this took place during the C-19 pandemic, as I thought large events were not taking place at this time. There was one Gladiator truck (JT
or Jeep Truck) thrown in with several Ford trucks. It looked like a fun event for all of its participants.

Ken, as mentioned above, there have been no tours in 2020. This show was a compilation of previous tours. Cam has this time slot so he had to make a
show, since no Trail of Missions in 2030. The Gladiator is Casey Currie's (sp?)... and from a 2019 tour.

LOL, right...
There was some of the 2019 Rip to Cabo, which I hadn't seen before (but maybe I just missed it?)... That was the part where they tried to go across
Baja to San Juanico via Mission Guadalupe, but the road was washed out, full of boulders. It was open for us in May 2019 during Trail of Missions
Recon, but some months later, a new flash flood washed away the the road (again) from San José de Magdalena to Mission Guadalupe.
