More of the former than the latter for sure. They provide essential services for many Mexicans, but they are too big and too powerful now. Also, the
food they sell is mostly really, really bad for you.

Every OXXO every 7th Eleven in Mexico is a franchise owned mostly by Mexicans. The one has good coffee - the next one has bad coffee. But that does
not even depends on the owner. The coffee is made by employees.

Ok, stupid question here -- How do you pronounce Oxxo? "o-ho"? or "ox-o"? I've always wondered, and Wikipedia isn't helpful here.

Well, In general I think there is no stupid question -- there are only stupid answers. >>> not this one I hope. "o-ho" sounds Mexican.
Although cerveza dos XX is pronounced not like a "h" in the middle more like "akiss"
and yes I like beer! "ox-o" ? If anything like that maybe like it is written: O XX O

Municipio de Comundú
voted last year to not allow Oxxo markets in the area.
https://elcentinelabcs.com/dan-reves-a-oxxo-en-comondu-negar...
There is probably a back room story as to why and how this was accomplished.
My friends in the area are happy they were able to put the Oxxo ban to law, especially the ones with Six Mercado franchises. If they are happy, me
too.
