Has anyone used expedia.com to rent a car in Baja or Mex. If so was everything ok ? I need to rent a car in Cabo for a family vacation in June. Thanks Paul

caution on expedia.com

I use expedia.com a lot for booking various travel. Have not done so for a car in Mexico.
However..... I have found that their car booking is just so - so on price, etc.
Last month I was booking a van for the NASCAR races in Las Vegas. Expedia was out to lunch on prices and choices... went directly to three different car rental websites and beat expedia at each site. And, having a 'direct from the company' reservation is always preferable to a brokered one, IMHO.

Thrifty Car Rental of Carbos San Jose ....has sweet deals, great counter helpers, short list of avail cars. Just dont stay at the La Fiesta, unless you love wrist ID bands attached to you!

We're planning on renting at the airport. Is the Thrifty that you are referring to at the airport or nearby the airport?

thrifty in SJdC

At the airport. Have a reso. ahead of time if you have specific type of vehicle request (pickup, etc).

Another tip:

Inspect the car when you first pick it up. Take digital photos of all sides and the spare, and especially any damaged spots. Take a photo of the car with the company sign or an employee wearing a logo in it also and get one of the license plate .Make sure the guy documents the damage on your rental agreement.

We learned this tip from renting cars in Central America where the rentals get even more off road use than in Baja (believe it or not) and the guys will try to nail you for all kinds of stuff when you return the car. Being able to show them the photos instantly on your camera has saved our butts a couple of times.
