Storm reaches hurricane strength off Baja coast

Hurricane Linda continued to move on a northwest tack Monday night off the Pacific coast of Mexico.

Just strong enough to qualifying as a hurricane, Linda was located 320 miles (515 kilometers) south-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula late Monday night, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Maximum sustained winds measured 75 mph (120 kph) with higher gusts, as the hurricane moved northwest at 10 mph (16 kph).
