La Paz El Sargento/La Ventana

I plan to take my two adult sons on a quick 4 day / 3 night fishing trip to the area. We will be flying to la paz and going late July. We have been to La Paz many times but have never stayed or experienced the Sargento/Ventana area. Never been there. We are choosing this area to fish isla cerralvo .

I would appreciate any suggestions such as hotel, transportation to the area, restaurants, stores etc. Are there taxis/Uber in the area (ventana/Sargento) ? Should I rent a car at the airport in La Paz, call Uber and make a contact, do I need to buy drinks/food in la Paz before going out there ? Also if anyone can recommend a boat captain please provide contact information.

Appreciate your support!

Thank you

Hi Paul,
This is a huge wind surfing/ kite sailing (whatever they are called now) location.
I was there and took photos in August (off season) and the place was pretty dead. See my Trip #6 (2017) Report for photos, etc.
Sorry I don't have any more, but am sure the Nomads will have a flood of assistance coming your way!

There is Lalo's Sport Fishing in La Ventana or Lucero's Sportfishing out of Muertos to go to Cerralvo and endless places to stay, you can look on airbnb or VRBO or Booking.com for some ideas of beach front houses, "hotels" are generally a bit less well appointed, more expensive and not that great compared to private homes. The range of price of rooms is about US $50-350 a night, some are very expensive without good reason, book carefully.

Today sport fisherman caught Dorado, Cabrilla, Xuachinago, Pompano, Rooster, AmberJack etc.

There are local stores, Oscaritos and Star Market, and many many great restaurants. If you really want to outfit your trip, you can shop in San Jose or La Paz and bring all the things you want.

Are you looking for affordable, luxurious, central, private place, all inclusive?

There are private drivers, Ubers etc. but it helps to have a car there.

The beach in the area of Arroyo 10 is nice, with side shore wind and people are still doing wind water sports, Wing, Kite, a few days a week when wind permits or SUP. At the bottom of the bay its on shore wind and not quite as pleasant.

Quads are available or side by side, Mountain biking, Horseback riding, diving, snorkeling, spear fishing, sport fishing etc.

Be careful with booking since there is a huge range of service providers including some that really don't do a great job, overcharging and under serving is common, so take time to be sure you know what you are getting or book when you arrive in person after meeting up and seeing what's offered. Most providers don't offer refund for cancelation.

It's definitely low season now, but many people are still there, more so than ever before, lots of business are open, many new guides and some established.

Feel free to PM with specific questions to give you tailored responses in private to ensure success when you arrive.

Lalo is lazy and over priced. Tailhunter, treats his captains as slaves and even takes their propinas. Best bet is to take a drive in to town and go down to the ramp located at Playa Central ( google it) around 130 in the afternoon and see who got fish and book for yourself.
Lalo will have the least amount of fish of all!
