Mexico politics in the 70's
I had a good friend that come to live with his aunt in Grass Valley when he was a teenager. He was from Colima, MX, and his father was well connected
and owned the Coca Cola plant in that area.
He told me that his older brother became interested in politics and wanted to run for office, but the father threatened to cut him off from the estate
for bringing shame to the family name!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

This thread is not about fox. He is not running, has been gone for something like 15+ years…
Woke!
“...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America
will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”

Many young adults in our village (La Bocana) want to get involved in politics it seems. Scary times.

I had a young, educated, Mexican couple as Airbnb guests. They said that they are ashamed that their country is a joke on the international stage due
to all the corruprion and the cartels basically running the country and that their generation was going to work to change things.
It was nice to hear- I hope they manage to achieve that.

Looks like Marina del Pilar will be the next BC governor. I don't think the results have been finalized yet.
She was the mayor of Mexicali.

It was the Coca Cola part, not the Colima part that made me think of Fox.

Look again, I was asking AK as he just posted a couple lines that I was trying to understand. The Coca Cola connection is why I asked if Fox was the
person of his post. Of course Fox isn't running, that was 20 years ago, lol.

I am not familiar with the candidates for governor of BC. Does this portend change to any significant degree, and if so, what kind of change?
Not looking for a political discussion, just an impartial overview of what the election results might mean for Mexicans in their daily lives and for
Americans/Canadians traveling to or residing in Mexico

She's with Partido Morena:
"MORENA describes itself as a democratic left-wing party which supports ethnic, religious, cultural and sexual diversity, respect for human rights and
environmental care."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Regeneration_Movement
The political party was created by President Lopez Obredor
The probable new mayor of TJ is also affiliated with MORENA.
Monserrat Caballero
https://www.elimparcial.com/tijuana/tijuana/PREP-perfila-a-M...
So we have the president, governor, and TJ mayor all in the same party. I think that's good because money flows along party lines.
