We went to Joaquin's Cactus Restaurant

Anyone who has come to La Bocana knows that Joaquin's Cactus Restaurant, albeit expensive for La Bocana at US$25 a head, has to be explored at least once!

Joaquin and now son Leonardo, are still hard at work cooking up a storm when you make a reservation with them.

We had sashimi, salad, shrimp, fish, and his famous creamed corn. Here to report that it was all sooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

Sashimi

Leo and Joaquin!

Our amigos: They live in Santa Monica and fly the world as musicians. One of them plays with 80 year old Eric Burton of The Animals. I made the reservation for them in advance and they flew from TJ to Loreto, rented a car and zoomed over to go to Joaquin's.

Here is the photo of the salad, which never disappoints. I regret to say that I was too busy eating to remember to photograph the breaded shrimp and fish.

Joaquin's contact info ~ they ONLY open with a reservation

It's Eric Burdon, an old girlfriend dated him for a while, allegedly. That food looks awesome. $25 a head for all that is a bargain!!! And perform their magic only with a prior reservation, that's top shelf even in the USA!!! Who cares if you have to probably pony up beforehand, that's a memory you get to recall forever.

Travelling the world and living the dream, you rock, Blanca!

We really enjoyed the meal there last year. We paid a little less then that a person for our lobster dinner and drinks last year. It was well worth the price, he had a bunch of friends there that we hung out with and really enjoyed the time. If your in the area do have Blanca set up a dinner for you.

Mood: I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

One of the best meals I have ever had. The food just came in waves with shrimp being the main coarse or so I thought. Just when we finished an ample amount of shrimp thinking that was it, the lobster came out.
The vibe was also great!

Highly recommend!

From what I understand you get what is fresh on hand, what they caught that morning. I would bet it will always be some kind of fish. When we arrived all of his friend were BBQing some thin sliced milk goat that they shared with us, really good.

The times we break bread with friends are the times that will always be remembered. Precious times indeed.

I believe Van Morrison has a great song about Precious Times that could apply.

Peace please.

Love always, as shown by Les and Blanca daily.

Fish tacos forever.

Pardon my ignorance, what's "milk goat"? :?:

LOL, no ignorance, I'm not even sure I know. I think its a young goat and it may even mean it was bottle fed? Not really sure, we didn't ask until later in the night and then never went into details.

It was said in English or I would have no idea what it was. I will say it was very good. Everything they served was top notch and a wonderful interaction with everyone.
