The military has been stationed at airstrips and airports for quite sometime. That is why so many private runways have been closed, as the government began charging big fees to property owners, to maintain a military presence at or near the Baja runways. When I checked in and out of the Ensenada International airport in 2014, plenty of soldiers were there.

About three years ago, I was looking for a friend's place just north of Bahia de Los Angeles, and took a wrong turn. I wound up at the air strip there, which had a detachment of soldiers on duty.

the military is stealing from tourists at some of the checkpoints on highways.
this sound like more military bandits coming to baja to rob the tourists, because the jefes in DF heard that the pickings were good, victims were cooperative :lol::lol:

Any chance the military is trying to prevent the cartels from flying out drugs?

Yes, and it's a civilian airport, too. The Americans built it in 1942 for the defense of California.

Exactly what's it all about!
However, they may also be watching for guns and ammo coming in from the north?

If the past is indicator of the future, then some portion of the military will be on cartels payroll, aiding cartels,…
