In one of the early Score Baja Interncaional (500) races in June that went over the summit to the desert... a bike racer died of exposure when he got
lost. With GPS trackers and hopefully communicators (inReach, Spot, sat phone), the odds are reduced... but it still could be 110°!

There were several that got heat sick and needed emergency help.

It will be interesting to see how many teams use starLink for communications and if SCORE brings checkpoint communications into this century!

Does it look like the race will cross Mano Summit?

I suspect the same. Do you thin there is another crossing thereabouts?

Mano is the first, south from Rumorosa... then the 'summit' (Portezuelo de Jamau), followed by the newer ones just south of that we discussed after
the Pole Line Road Trip of 2015.

Where is a great place, near San Felipe, to ride out to and watch some of the race?

Hopefully you will get more ideas... the race is no closer than 30 miles from San Felipe (Hwy. 3) and at the top end of Diablo Dry Lake.

1) At the Hwy 3 crossing, near El Chinero, will have a lot of spectators and the racers have to slow to 37MPG for a close look at them. Lots of crazy
spectators are fun to watch as well.
At the north end of L Diablo are two good places.
2 and 3)RM 85,RM225, and VCP 90,RM230. Both have access on a graded road.

A good thing
There will be hydration stations in several locations on the course in the lower desert. It will be hot out there. Know the signs of heat exhaustion.
Stop for fluids if needed, don't be a hero's fool. There will be courtesy ARMA electrolytes drinks available at the volunteer stations.
Approximate locations:
RM123 Baja Pits
RM135 SCORE volunteer hydration stop
RM145 BFG pit with hydration and IV services
RM160 Baja Pits
RM175 SCORE volunteer hydration stop
RM180 Baja Pits hydration stop
RM195 SCORE volunteer hydration stop
RM203 Baja Pits

Looks like terrible herbst team mowed down a bunch of spectators. Why do score/racers never learn? They need to slow down when spectators are around
and dust obscures visibility. How does score get away with killing a few spectators every year?
Woke!
“...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America
will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”
