Como parte de los compromisos establecidos entre el gobierno federal y estatal en
el Programa Integral para el Bienestar de Mulegé, el pasado 18 de agosto se publicó la licitación de la modernización de la carretera
Transpeninsular en el tramo carretero Vizcaíno- Guerrero Negro, anunció Marco Antonio Gutiérrez de la Rosa, titular de la Secretaría de
Planeación Urbana, Infraestructura, Movilidad, Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (SEPUIMM).
Esta obra tiene como objetivo mejorar la seguridad de las personas que transitan por esta vía de comunicación y que es de vital importancia para las
familias de toda la entidad, los trabajos contemplan el inicio de la ampliación de 6 a 9 metros de esta sección, que se realizará en etapas, así
como la modernización del Entronque en Guerrero Negro.
Puntualizó que la Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes (SICT), transfirió a finales del mes de julio 100 millones de pesos
al Gobierno del Estado para el desarrollo de la obra, que durante este año se desarrollará desde Vizcaíno hacia el norte del estado, además en
esta localidad el Gobernador estableció el compromiso de mejorar el acceso.
Al finalizar Gutiérrez de la Rosa, hizo un llamado a las empresas interesadas en participar en el proceso de licitación a que ingresen en la página

Soooo... it is an announcement that they will be asking for bids to widen the highway almost 10 more feet (6 to 9 meters) from Vizcaino to Guerrero
Negro.
I would say it is about time, because back when they made this part of the highway in 1973, they said its narrow width (to finish the project on
budget) would "soon" be widened! 'Mañana' here = Fifty years later...

About that road construction....
Having a shoulder in addition to the pavement would be a nice upgrade, but does anyone think they will be hauling in loads of rock to create a
suitable sub-grade?
From what I have seen in other places in Baja, I think that they will likely just use whatever dirt the road is passing through and push it up to
create a soft, unstable shoulder.

The Baja Fog was a gag reply to Chippy... but since you want to take it to the side bar:
So, you guys like Corona over Pacifico??? GAG ME!
I like most Mexican beers, but Corona is one I have not enjoyed since I was teenager in San Felipe and thought they were great, in 1975.
Dos Equis, Tecate Light are my other favorites, with Pacifico... which is best on tap! Victoria, Bohemia, Modelo, and Mexicali are all okay, too.
