Got $125 for Dayr?

Hi all,

I have been in touch with Dayr, who graduated college on the scholarship project and got a job with Movistar in La Paz. Here is what I found on the internet:

Movistar is a major telecommunications provider owned by Telefónica, operating in Spain and Hispanic American countries. It is the largest provider of landline, broadband, mobile services, and pay television ( in Spain. Movistar is the second-largest wireless carrier in Mexico, with 25.8 million subscribers as of January 2020.

He is the training supervisor for all the salesmen who provide service to Soriana and other stores. Here is what he wrote:

Soy el encargado de los vendedores en tiendas coppel, Soriana, Walmart que venden celulares, recargas de tiempo aire y accesorios de la marca Movistar

Dayr always was a great student. He moved to La Paz in the middle of high school. It was a difficult time for him but he pulled through. He was besides himself thinking I would not support his dream to go to college if he left La Bocana, but I assured him that if he could keep the A average, he was good to go. He went on to graduate both high school and college with flying colors!

He is having car trouble and he says it was either fix the car (which he needs for work) or eat - so he decided to eat.

He did not ask but I was wondering if anyone wants to pitch in to repair his vehicle, it would be to such a deserving kid.

$2500 pesos or US$125.

Here is a picture of him in April when he graduated college. Alongside him are his mom and 2 siblings.

Here he is with me in 2019 on the front porch of our hotel.

Anyone up for sponsoring a car repair? Thanks in advance.

I guess I' not seeing the whole picture,

Obviously not (we don't know the situation); the question is whether you trust Blanca to see it.

Personally, I consider her one of the few credible posters here, and tend to trust her impressions on something like this.

If you don't, great; nobody's forcing you into anything. ;)

Obviously its handled. The question was not did I trust Blanca - the question was circumstances, would it be an ongoing issue? etc. Obviously Blanca clarified it - thanks BB

I think it is pretty cool that Blanca, who is a resident of Turkey now, continues to offer help for her former students in Mexico.

Thanks all for the vote of confidence! I hope everyone understands that I say NO many times to students who ask for money more often than I say let me see what I can do!

One of my favorite ex-students who also already graduated, is not talking to me because I said NO. He made some wrong choices and he has to understand the consequences of his choices. We are very close and I miss our chats, but I get that he needs time to deal with my decision.

Dayr is so happy. I thank you all again.
