best time to cross Tecate border?

I usually try to cross between 9-10am. Before that and later in the afternoon there always seems to be a lot of cars crossing. Also in the last couple of years I haven't crossed much. March was the last time and the line was only 20-30 minutes as I recall.

I have had good luck Tue-Thu as late as 4pm with little to no cars in front... Now, that was before Covid, when I made 8 trips in one year (2017) and one in 2018.

ugh!

This past August 4th we tried at about 1:00 p.m. on a Thursday - it was backed up way further then we'd ever seen it.....Certainly 1.5 to 2 hours.

No guarantees John!
I was in a 5-hour wait at Tecate (in 2012)... the longest every. It had been 45-90 min at normal go home times typically (Sunday PM of Monday if a 3-day weekend). The border is just a mess lately (on our side)!
