Fishing license

Trying to get my fishing license online as I have the past few years but they are now asking for 20.00 a person for the Embrace it program. My understanding was this program was voluntary and as far as I can tell there is no way to get a license online without this fee. Anyone used the site recently who could clarify. TIA

I use the same site but they have changed it somewhat. Finally figured out how to get past the screen looking for the voluntary ? embrace it tourist tax they are trying to implement. Read about this tax/donation 2 years ago and they have incorporated it in the license site but it is not mandatory but kinda of a sneaky way to try and collect it.

And, how exactly did you get around the page? That information might help others.

The issue that is new is that midway through the process a screen comes up asking if you are a foreigner. If you answer in the affirmative they want you to contribute ? 20.00 towards a sustainbility fund targeting tourists. The dialog makes it sound like it is mandatory but it is not. I finally quit checking this box and was able to add my name to the license as always and complete the transaction. Pretty confusing and somewhat underhanded IMHO.
